BIO
Hayley Plauger is a saxophonist, and educator currently based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has a musical vision of cultivating a connection between all cultures and ethnicities to bring upon a better understanding between people from diverse backgrounds. This vision has been started through her participation in an array of ensembles including a Middle Eastern Ensemble, Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, and Saxophone Quartet.
Currently, Hayley is an Instrumental Music Specialist with Pittsburgh Public Schools as well as a private woodwind instructor with Pittsburgh Performance Society. She has experience teaching beginner, intermediate, and advanced players of varying ages!
As a performer, she has given solo recitals in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and has performed with chamber groups at the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance, Pittsburgh’s Make Music Day, the Bowling Green New Music Festival, the PASSHE Women’s Consortium Conference, the International Navy Saxophone Symposium, and various NASA Regional Conferences.
She holds a B.S. in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a M.M. in Saxophone Performance from Bowling Green State University under the direction of Dr. John Sampen.

Teaching
Hayley has enjoyed teaching a wide variety of ages and groups of students. Currently she teaches concert band, orchestra, modern band, and jazz along with individual and group lessons.
Hayley previously taught General Music to ages K-8. She often used ukulele, piano, Orff instruments, and garage band while teaching about improvisation, rhythmic notations, various genres and styles, and famous musicians.
Currently
Hayley is teaching with Pittsburgh Public Schools as an Instrumental Music Specialist. She teaches band and orchestral instruments as well as piano and guitar.
